Emma 6 month stats

Time is flying by and Emma turned six months old last Friday!  She went to the doctor on Monday for her check and had SEVEN immunizations!  Four shots (one was her first flu shot...finally!) and one was the oral rotavirus drink.  She handled them beautifully and wasn't really cranky or tired at all that day.  She's pretty amazing!!!

So her stats:

Weight: 20 lbs 14 oz (98th percentile)
Height: 27 inches (90th percentile)
Head: 18 inches (above the scales--off the charts big again)

And she is meeting all developmental guidelines and the doctor said she looks just perfect!  Not that I didn't already know that, but it's always nice to hear!

Miss Emma is not quite crawling yet but is rolling around and turning all over the place.  We have to really watch her and have to shut the baby gate at the top of the stairs if we're leaving her alone for a few minutes.  She doesn't really want to sit up at all and just topples over.  She's simply not motivated to do so and I am very much okay with that!

Emma loves to laugh and talk and make noise!  If she wants your attention and you're not looking at her, she will grunt, wait a second, and grunt again until you look at her.  She's pretty funny and really intelligent with what she already knows how to do.  In fact, when I ask her to smile for the camera and hold up my phone, she usually puts a grin on her face since she knows what's happening!

Emma loves books that have pictures of other kids or babies!  She loves looking at the faces and gets super excited and squeals and yells at them.  She is also in the grabbing stage.  No matter what I put in my hand, it most definitely will become hers or she will SCREAM!  And do not even think about trying to take it away.  That will elicit an even louder scream. :)

Emma is a mommy's girl.  She ONLY wants mommy.  The other kids will make her laugh and smile but she wants mommy holding her all the time.  When daddy has her and she sees mommy, she starts crying and acts completely distraught.  And then if I come talk to her and walk away without taking her.....she is done.  Pure sadness, distress, and just emotional death for her.  I know she will outgrow it so I'm definitely trying to apprecaite her loving me so incredibly much.

Emma is very intelligent and she's just a sweet, zen little baby.  She doesn't show much stranger anxiety yet and she's just usually a pretty chill little baby.  She still loves to eat, as her size suggests.  She started rice cereal on Christmas day and this week we added in some green beans.  She always makes a really disgusted face but keeps opening her mouth for more until they're gone so she must like them.  I don't think we'll have a problem with her eating. :)

Emma Lily, you are such a light in my life and the completion to our family.  I am so thankful for you and cannot wait to see how your little personality forms and what you will be like when you are older!  For now, I'm enjoying these last few moments of having a "baby" and know that all too soon you will be toddling around this house!  Love you!

Emma's 6 month pictures

I have a few problems.  First, my sweet little Emma just will not stop growing up, despite my pleas for her to stay my little baby forever!

Since she's not listening, we had her 6 month pictures taken a few days ago.  Which leads me to my second problem....she is so darn cute that it's hard to just pick a couple!  So, here are my favorites!!!

Most people say Kyler but I think this shows a striking resemblance between the girls!

Emma is 4 months!

Sweet baby Emma is ALREADY four months old!  It's just going way, way, way, way, way too fast!  It makes me sad!

She had her appointment yesterday and she's definitely my chunky monkey, which is what I already knew!  She's by far my biggest baby at this age, which again, no shock to me!

Height: 25.5 inches--87th percentile

Weight:  18 lbs 6 oz--97th percentile

Head:  17.5 inches--off the charts--above 97th percentile

She's also meeting all the requirements the doctor checks at this age, including holding head at 90 degrees when on tummy, having stable head control while sitting up, rolling over tummy to back (which she's been doing consistently since 3 weeks old), laughing, smiling, cooing, verbalizing, and reaching for things.

Emma also is able to roll back to tummy but has yet to roll around the house.  I'm sure it won't be too long before that happens though and we have a nice, new baby gate read to go for her!

Emma, my dear, you are growing up so fast!  You've been reaching out and grabbing at things for awhile now and you now only want your mama!  I kind of love it since I know I'm the only one you want to hold you anymore and it's kind of nice but breaks are also good.  You love your siblings so, so much and they love you too!  I think Kyler is your favorite though, simply because he is home with you all day but you definitely think your sister is pretty great too!  You just seem so much older than 4 months, partly because of what a big girl you are and partly because you can do so much that most 4 month old babies just can't do yet!  You've loved sitting up in the bumbo for quite some time and have been in the rainforest jumparoo for several weeks already too!  You've started sitting at the dinner table with us at meals in your high chair and I think you like being included and sitting up with us.  I am holding off on solids, mainly because you don't need them yet.  The doctor agreed and said there is really no need yet since you are growing like a weed with just mommy's milk.  I love you so infinitely much and you are just the sweetest thing I have ever laid eyes on!  Now if you would sleep through the night....and in your crib or pack and play.....:)

The funny things we say...

Sometimes I say things I never thought I would ever say.  For instance, today I said to Kyler, "I love you enough to give you the last piece of bacon."  Not that strange, but about ten minutes later I had to say, "Please don't dip your bacon in your milk."  Yup, much weirder. :)

This morning as we were getting ready to leave to drop Grace off at school I told her to make sure she washes her hands well at school.  I told her we want to go see a new baby and we have to wash our hands so we don't get sick.  Grace looked at me and said, "Oh, is she a germaphobe too?"  Yikes...

 And then today, after Kyler went poop on the toilet, he told me that his body has to find the right puzzle pieces to poop out and he found a lot so he was able to poop a lot.  How those minds work...

Just Kid Pictures

We had family/kid pictures taken at JCPenney on Monday, September 1st, 2014.  And I was so incredibly disappointed with them.  They put little to no effort into posing and didn't take the time to try to get good pictures of my kids.  What a waste. :(

So that afternoon I took some of my own with the kids wearing their sibling shirts.  I liked mine so much better!

Emma's Dedication

We were so blessed to be able to dedicate Emma at church on Sunday, September 14, 2014.

We are so thankful for a church, church family, and family and friends who were able to be a part of something so special for our sweet daughter.

We fixed a meal for our family after and spent the afternoon hanging out and talking.  It was a great day!

And Miss Emma finally got to meet her great grandparents!!! :)
