Kyler is 1!!!!!!

I am way behind in blogging!

Kyler turned one last Thursday, March 22nd! I can't believe how quickly the year flew by for me. Okay, I can, but it just doesn't seem fair!

The following picture was taken ON Kyler's 1st birthday. I have a similar picture of Grace ON her first birthday.

And this picture was as well. It just makes me smile. Something about the way he looks so serious and intent yet is sucking his thumb. :)

And here is Miss Grace loving her little brother. Grandma Green got these shirts for the kids for Valentine's Day.

Kyler's doc appointment was the day after his birthday. He weighed in at 24 lbs 14 oz which put him in the 92nd percentile for weight.

He was 29 1/2 inches tall, 37th percentile.

And yet again in the 90-95 percentile for head at 19 inches. :)

These are some of the things the doctor's office questionnaire asks if the one year old is doing. I was able to mark a YES for all of them:

Bang two objects together in hands
Walk (Has been since 10 months)
Put objects inside other objects
Wave bye bye
Two words
Jabber with inflections of normal speech
Follow simple directions
Point to things
Climb stairs
Imitate combing hair

Kyler loves to pretend to comb hair. I don't know that pretending is the word since he actually takes a brush or comb and tries to do it to someone's hair. :)

And Kyler has decided that he is a dog. He tries to lay on the floor like one. For example, while looking at Mack laying on the floor, he will lay on his tummy and then try to roll his hips over so his bottom half is rotated out. If you have a dog, you probably know what I'm talking about. :)

He also thinks it's funny to just pick up food off his tray with his mouth instead of using his hands, like a dog. And puzzles.....same thing. He tries to put the pieces in those wood block puzzles with his mouth instead of his hands. Oh silly boy!

Kyler, you are such a joy. I'm sad you aren't my baby anymore, but you are such a sweet little boy! I love you more than I ever could have imagined and love having such a nonstop, energetic, happy, funny, smart little boy!

And the last picture here.....Kyler LOVES Grace's bean bag chair. Every time he walks into her room, he goes straight for it and FLOPS himself down into it. Then he usually leans back into it and just chills. :)

LOVE

I love these two. They are so funny when they are playing nicely together, which doesn't happen all that often. Usually one of them (usually Grace) steals a toy and the other one gets mad. But this is what it looks like when they are playing nice. :)

And we finished Kyler's toybox! Grace has one identical to this that we made her when she was about 9 months old. If you haven't seen it, it's a super bright, dark pink with her name in a scripty font in light pink on the front.

Family Haircuts

We all needed a haircut so we just went across the street to Cost Cutters the other night.

This meant Kyler's first haircut!

I feel terrible that I forgot to take pictures though like I did for Grace's first haircut. :(

But here he is after!

He did great! He sat on Mommy's lap and was surprisingly calm and still.

This looks much better. Before you could comb his hair down all the way over his entire ear and cover his earlobe!

And Miss Grace got 3 inches off. I love how cute her hair is shorter like this. Her curls look better too!

Thug or beauty princess???

Grace wanted to glam up Monday. So here is her all decked out in some of her own bling. But I'm not quite sure why she looks like such a thug.......:)

And I love this picture. This is one of the 12 beautiful roses Dustin brought home for me for Valentines Day. Beautiful! And I love how my new camera can actually capture it up close!

He's a walker!

I can tell because Grace has her dance clothes on. :)

He's actually doing much better and can walk across the room by himself now!

Fun in the.....SNOW!

So we got 12 inches of snow this weekend! And it was wet, heavy snow! Dustin and I spent an hour digging out our driveway and sidewalks but were able to get it all clean! Lots of the neighbor kids were out while we were doing this and Kyler was taking a nap, so Grace went across the street and played with the kids. It was really nice not having to watch her while we were trying to scoop. She had such a blast playing for an hour with those kids!

The next day we went out and built a little snowman. The wet, heavy snow turned very powdery the next day so we couldn't do as much as we wanted. But at least this snow that was sitting in the sun worked for a little one!

And yesterday and today Grace has wanted to go outside to play. With Dustin at work, it's very hard for me to take her and Kyler out, especially since Kyler really hates the snow. So I just bundled her up and let her play in the backyard by herself. She has loved it! She runs around with Mack and loves going down the slide. I was a little nervous about her climbing the rocks up the slide with boots on, but she does a great job! And she uses the slide more now than she ever has in the summer! New Camera!!!!!!

So I have been wanting a nice, DSLR camera for a long time! Like, since Grace was born! I've always felt bad that I didn't have great pictures of my kids. Like, good quality. Sure, those grainy things work, but I wanted something a little higher quality!

After a LOT of research, I finally settled on a Canon Rebel! I really like it and am enjoying learning about it! Right now I'm mostly on the auto settings and am just using a kit lens, but even with that, it's unreal the difference! I plan on learning a little more about it and how to do more manual shooting later on with a higher quality lens, but for now, I'm definitely enjoying taking pictures!

There were two main things I wanted from a camera, other than just overall better quality pictures. The first is the ability to shoot something up close and not have it be all blurry. I wanted to be able to capture details up close. I know it's not an interesting subject, but here is an up close picture of Kyler's peas for lunch one day.... :)

And I have always LOVED photos where the main subject is clear with everything else blurred out. And I did it!

This is definitely a fun new toy and I'm sure I'll love getting to know more about photography!
