Dustin was on vacation this week so we took full advantage and stayed really busy!
Monday we went to Menards and got a new small swimming pool for the backyard. It was so hot it was warm enough to swim that night. The kids ready to go!
Tuesday looked like the nicest day of the week so we did our yearly zoo trip that day!
Petting zoo
The kids had a great time and we were exhausted by the end. They both loved the giraffes and the penguins. Kyler loves animals and this was his first time where he could sit up and really look at all the animals. He had fun getting to see so many animals in person instead of just in a book!
Tuesday night we went to the city pool in our neighborhood and went swimming. The big pool was FREEZING still so we spent a good chunk of the time in the baby pool, which was much warmer.
Wednesday we had dentist appointments in the morning. They took longer than we thought so we went to Lamar's for a quick donut snack! Yum!
After that, we went to the state capital. Grace loves going there and thinks it's awesome to go up to the top.
The kids showing some cuddle love in the morning.
Thursday we moved the pool and cleaned it out. This meant new, cold water. Grace had been wanting us to put it under the slide. She had fun, but it was definitely cold since it wasn't on the cement pavement and in the shade so it couldn't warm up the way it usually does.
Thursday night was camping night for Dustin and Grace. Yet another thing she had been wanting to do for awhile. You can't camp without first having smores, so I used a trick I learned on Pinterest about how to do a campfire (small) at home. Worked good!
Mmm....smores....:)
Kyler and I joined them after dark for a bedtime story read by flashlight in the tent. At first Kyler didn't think it was great but warmed up and enjoyed the tent. Then he and I came inside while Dustin and Grace stayed out there. He said she only screwed around for about 30 minutes and then fell asleep. They ended up staying out until about 5:30 when the birds were chirping and it was pretty cold!
And I finally have some lilies on my plant! The bunnies and the dog have both destroyed this plant somewhat, so I'm glad I got something out of it this year!
